$500 Down Cars in West Palm Beach
$500 down is a real starting point at Planet Motors for buyers who qualify — but it is not a guarantee, and anyone who tells you otherwise is selling you something. What you actually need depends on your credit, your income and the vehicle you choose. Here is how it really works.
What $500 Down Actually Means Here
Plenty of lots in South Florida advertise “$500 down” as though it were a fixed program that everyone gets. It is not, and we would rather say so on the way in than waste your afternoon.
At Planet Motors, $500 down is a genuine option that some customers qualify for. We do not finance in-house, so we are not the ones setting it. Your down payment is decided by the lender who approves your application, based on the picture you present and the vehicle you pick. Some buyers do start at $500. Others are asked for more. A few, with the right profile or a trade with equity in it, start lower.
The honest answer is that nobody — here or anywhere else — can tell you your number before an actual lender looks at your actual application. What we can tell you is what moves it.
Credit concerns? Here is exactly how to get approved for a car loan with bad credit.
What Sets Your Down Payment
Four things carry most of the weight:
- Your credit profile. Our lending partners consider scores starting in the low 400s, and they also work with no credit history at all, prior bankruptcy and past repossession. A stronger profile generally means a lender asks for less up front.
- Your income and stability. Time at your job and time at your address often matter as much as the score itself, particularly if you are rebuilding after a setback.
- The vehicle you choose. This is the one most people underestimate. Lenders look at the vehicle as collateral, so the car you pick genuinely changes what you are asked to put down. Choosing differently is often the fastest way to move your number.
- Your trade-in. If you have equity in your current vehicle it can go toward the down payment, and that includes vehicles you still owe money on. Our guide covers trading in a car that is not paid off.
Low Down Payment Without the Buy Here Pay Here Trap
Search “$500 down” around West Palm Beach and most of what comes back is Buy Here Pay Here lots. We are not one of them, and the difference matters more than the number on the sign.
A Buy Here Pay Here lot lends you its own money, which means it sets the terms and has no competition. Most of them also do not report your payments to Equifax, Experian or TransUnion. You can make every payment on time for four years and finish with the same credit score you started with.
Planet Motors places your application with a network of outside lenders instead, so they compete for it — and every one of our lending partners reports to all three major bureaus. Your payments do something for you beyond keeping the car. If you want the full comparison, we wrote it up on our Buy Here Pay Here page.
How to Find Out Your Number
Start with the online pre-approval form. It takes a few minutes and lets us put your application in front of the right lenders before you drive over, so your time here goes on choosing a vehicle rather than filling in paperwork. Most customers get a decision the same day.
Bring a valid driver licence, proof of income such as recent pay stubs, and proof of residence such as a utility bill. Requirements vary by lender — our guide to what documents you need to buy a car covers the detail, or call (855) 897-5773 and we will tell you exactly what to bring before you make the trip.
